On the Wednesday, June 14, episode of Nutmeg Sports Frank and Kevin continue their wrap up coverage of the 2017 spring season. Our hosts have the All-FCIAC selections for boys and girls golf along with tennis and track and field. We announce the 2017 FCIAC Hall of Fame inductees plus the John Kuzco and Ralph King award winners. New Canaan lacrosse captains Ryan O’Connell and Jackson Appelt also join Nutmeg Sports via telephone to talk about the Rams 3rd consecutive state title and the conclusion of their high school careers and promise of their future collegiate careers.
First up on Wednesday’s Nutmeg episode, Frank and Kevin welcome New Canaan boys lacrosse captains Ryan O’Connell and Jackson Appelt to the show following their 9-6 win over Daniel Hand in the class M state title game this past Saturday. Our hosts get to talk with the two young men about everything from their 6 state championships during their high school careers, and preview a possible future rivalry with O’Connell heading to North Carolina and Appelt to Virginia this fall.
Our hosts also look into the spring season’s All-FCIAC teams, postseason polls and where the FCIAC schools finished in relation to the state, region, and nation. Plus Frank and Kevin breakdown the 2017 FCIAC Hall of Fame Inductees and their lifetime achievements and contributions to the conference. This year’s inductees include, Mike King, Al Malizia, Barry McLeod, Rob Murray, Rick Osvick, and Marj Trifone.
