Nutmeg Sports, HAN’s Connecticut sport show, airs Monday-Thursday at 2 pm on HAN.Network, hosted by Frank Granito, Kevin Coleman and various HAN sports editors.
On the Thursday, June 15, episode of Nutmeg Sports our hosts welcome Darien boys lacrosse captains Ryan Cornell and Finlay Collins to the show to talk about the Blue Wave’s first national championship in program history.
After 34 years of coaching the Darien boys lacrosse team head coach Jeff Brameier may have accomplished his final and greatest feat. Already claiming 4 undefeated seasons, 13 state titles, 16 conference championships, 13 Connecticut players of the year, and countless All-Americans to his resume, Coach Brameier can now call his Blue Wave national champions.
The final rankings of the USA Today and Under Armour / Inside lacrosse polls released earlier this week and for the first time ever Darien finished as the No. 1 team in the nation.
Frank and Kevin are joined by captains Ryan Cornell and Finlay Collins who shed light on what this honor means to them, along with reflecting on their incredible careers and what it has been like to play for Coach Brameier and be apart of the winning tradition.
We also have a video, courtesy of Darien Times Sports Editor Steve Buono, with highlights of Darien’s 16-3 state championship over Cheshire from last Saturday. Along with the highlight package, Blue Wave players and coaches postgame interviews are included as well.
