Nutmeg Sports, HAN’s Connecticut sport show, airs Monday-Thursday at 2 pm on HAN.Network, hosted by Frank Granito, Kevin Coleman, Eric Gendron and various HAN sports editors.

On the Monday, June 5, episode of Nutmeg Sports our hosts get you ready for this week’s state semifinals and championship games. 17 FCIAC schools are still competing in boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, baseball, softball, and boys volleyball. Our hosts also have highlights from the HAN Network’s coverage of Darien’s 17-6 quarterfinal win over the Greenwich Cardinals.

Frank, Kevin, and Eric start off Monday’s show with highlights and analysis of No. 1 Darien and No. 8 Greenwich’s quarterfinal boys lacrosse game from Saturday afternoon. The HAN Network was live at Darien High School for the CIAC Class L quarterfinal game featuring two of the top schools from the FCIAC. Greenwich was the last team to beat Darien back in 2015 but once again it was the Blue Wave who would prevail as they extended their win streak to 52 games with a 17-6 win over the Cardinals.

Our hosts also break down this past weekend’s baseball action which saw three FCIAC teams advance to the semifinals. Ridgefield beat No. 18 Enfield 9-5, Danbury took down No. 5 Fairfield prep 5-2 and Staples held off a last inning comeback from No. 3 Westhill to hang on for a 12-11 win. Staples will play Ridgefield with a trip to the state championship on the line, while the 20th seeded Danbury Hatters will take on No. 1 Amity.

Finally we have a preview of tomorrow’s coverage of the girls lacrosse Class L semifinals featuring Wilton vs Greenwich and New Canaan vs Darien.
