Nutmeg Sports, HAN’s Connecticut sport show, airs Monday-Thursday at 2 pm on HAN.Network, hosted by Frank Granito, Donald Eng, Kevin Coleman and various HAN sports editors.
On the Tuesday, March 7, episode of Nutmeg Sports our hosts and director Eric Gendron break down the opening round of the boys basketball state tournament, the boys ice hockey FCIAC championship, and get you ready for our coverage of Wednesday night’s second round game between Trumbull and Fairfield Prep.
In the show’s opening John Kovach joins Frank Granito and Kevin Coleman to look back on Saturday’s boys ice hockey FCIAC Championship game between the Ridgefield Tigers and New Canaan Rams. Ridgefield defeated the Rams for a 3rd time this season winning 5-2 en route to their program’s 6th FCIAC championship. John and Kevin will also look at the Division 1 state tournament and see which FCIAC team has the best chance to make it to Ingalls.
Next up on Nutmeg Don joins our hosts as they look back on last night’s 1st round state game between the FCIAC champion Ridgefield Tigers and the Shelton Gaels. In a rematch of the state semifinals in football, the Gaels came away victorious this time around as Brian Berrito raced the length of the court to beat the buzzer for a final score of 50-48.
Bill Bloxum also joins the show today to preview Wednesday’s 2nd round state game between Trumbull and Fairfield Prep. Plus our hosts debate which athletic program had a better winter season… the Ridgefield Tigers or the Danbury Hatters.
