Connecticut Sports Talk, May 10

Softball highlights plus girls lacrosse breakdowns and previews as the playoff push continues for all 17 FCIAC schools with less than a week remaining in the regular season.

Nutmeg Sports, HAN’s Connecticut sport show, airs Monday-Thursday at 2 pm on HAN.Network, hosted by Frank Granito, Kevin Coleman, Eric Gendren and various HAN sports editors.

On the Wednesday, May 10, episode of Nutmeg Sports Frank, Kevin and Eric have highlights from girls lacrosse and softball earlier in the week. Plus a preview of this afternoon’s girls lacrosse game between the first place Darien Blue Wave and the Norwalk Bears.

Our show opens up with highlights and breakdown of Monday afternoon’s softball game from Stamford High between the Black Knights and the Norwalk Bears. What started out as a pitcher’s dual between Brianny Garcia and Sara Staley quickly turned into a slugfest, highlighted by Tori Cuscana’s two home runs. The Black Knights would go on to win 10-0 over the Bears to remain in second place in the FCIAC.

Next up is Tuesday afternoon’s rivalry game between the Ridgefield Tigers and New Canaan Rams in girls lacrosse from Tiger Hollow. After opening up a 6 goal lead in the first half, New Canaan would see the Tigers claw their way back to a 1 goal deficit just 5 minutes in to the 2nd half. The Rams proved to have too much offensive fire power though as 4 New Canaan players would score a hat trick on their way to a 16-10 victory. With the win the Rams move into sole possession of 2nd place in the conference.

Finally Frank, Kevin and Eric preview this afternoon’s girls lacrosse game between defending conference champion Darien and Norwalk. The Wave will look for their 10th win in conference play this season, and it would be coach Lisa Lindley’s 400th career win.
