On the Tuesday, May 23, episode of Nutmeg Sports our hosts continue their coverage of the 2017 FCIAC spring postseason. Frank, and Kevin have girls lacrosse highlights on today’s show and a full preview of tomorrow night’s FCIAC championship from Norwalk High. We also have coverage of this afternoon’s boys lacrosse semifinals featuring No.1 Darien, No. 5 Wilton, No. 2 Greenwich and No. 3 Ridgefield.
First up is Monday night’s girls lacrosse semifinals from Norwalk High’s Testa Field. Game No. 1 featured the New Canaan Rams and the Ridgefield Tigers. These two teams met in last season’s semifinals with the Rams coming out on top 14-7 to advance to their 2nd straight FCIAC championship game. It was all Ridgefield last night though as the Tigers flipped the script on the Rams and knocked off No. 2 New Canaan 14-11. Caroline Curnal scored 5 goals for the Tigers and Lexi Held made 8 saves to help Ridgefield advance to their first ever FCIAC championship game.
In the second semifinal matchup Darien rolled past Staples 23-4, improving to 13-0 against the FCIAC this season and advancing to their 7th consecutive FCIAC championship appearance. Darien has won 5 straight conference titles and is now outscoring their opponents 47-7 through the first two rounds of the conference tournament.
Finally, Frank and Kevin get you ready for this afternoon’s boys lacrosse semifinals at Brien McMahon. At 5 pm it will be No. 2 Greenwich hosting No. 3 Ridgefield. Followed by, No 1. Darien hosting No. 5 Wilton at 7:30 pm.
