Two of the top teams in Connecticut face off at the Darien Ice Rink — live on the HAN Network

Two of the top boys ice hockey teams in Connecticut meet for an early-season showdown at the Darien Ice Rink — and you can watch it live on the HAN Network.

The undefeated Darien Blue Wave (4-0-0) host No. 1 ranked Notre Dame-West Haven Green Knights (4-1-0). The Blue Wave are ranked No. 4 in the CIAC’s unofficial Division 1 boys ice hockey rankings — but are No. 1 in latest Gametime CT state poll. In the same poll, released Dec. 16, Notre Dame-West Haven is No. 4.

The Monday, Jan. 4, game begins at 6 p.m. Live coverage starts at 5:55 on live.HAN.Network, DarienTimes.com, FCIAC.net and all the HAN Network affiliates. HAN’s Rob Adams will lead the call.

Darien has powered past all its opponents, most recently clobbering rival New Canaan, 8-0, as seen live on the HAN Network. New Canaan played a much closer game with Notre Dame-West Haven earlier this season in a game carried live on the HAN Network

The Blue Wave had an outstanding campaign last winter, going 25-2-1 and beating Greenwich for the FCIAC and the state’s CIAC Division I championships.

The Green Knights feature a deep offense, led by senior forwards Joe Andsaldo and Calvin Hoban. On defense, Notre Dame stars seniors Doug Caliendo and Paddy Connors, along with senior goalie Conor Hylton.

Upcoming games and more

The HAN Network will be covering numerous events throughout the FCIAC’s winter season, including ice hockey, basketball, wrestling, swimming and diving, and the conference’s postseason championships.

Basketball and wrestling make their HAN Network debut in January with Ridgefield vs. Trumbull wrestling on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and Danbury vs. Norwalk boys basketball on Thursday, Jan. 7.

HAN Network’s broadcasting division replaced HANRadio.com with a new focus on live video streams of high school athletics along with the Network’s news and lifestyle programming.

Along with Connecticut high school sports contests, HAN broadcasts a daily news program, Coffee Break, focusing on southwestern Connecticut at 11 a.m. and a sports talk show, Nutmeg Sports, Monday-Wednesday. You can watch all the shows at live.HAN.Network or on demand at live.HAN.Network/han-on-demand/.
