On the Tuesday, August 2, episode of Nutmeg Sports Frank and Don are joined by Dane Street the new Athletic Director for Ridgefield High School, who makes the move after 4 years at Simsbury. Dane talks about the excitement in joining both Ridgefield and the FCIAC conference. Dane sheds light on Ridgefield’s pursuit of a field hockey coach and what the first month of his tenure has been like.
Next the guys shift their focus to some local sporting events that have been taking place including the National Amatuer Baseball Federation Northeast Regional championship which took place on Sunday afternoon. The New Rochelle Robins defeated the Milford Hunters 7-6 to advance to the NABF Major Division World Series to be held in Battle Creek (Mich.) from Aug 4-7.
There was also some softball action in the area, as the Stratford Brakettes will open their title defense on Thursday, Aug. 4, at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field, when the 8th annual Women’s Major Softball National Championship tournament starts.
The Bluefish were also featured as they get set to host their special guest manager night, with former MLB Pitcher Roger Clemens. First pitch is set for 7:12 on Friday for when the Bluefish get set to host the Long Island Ducks.
Finally the guys look into how the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA Gymnastics team did at Nationals in Long Beach California, and put a wrap on the baseball seasons for the Norwalk Cal Ripken 9 year olds, and the Stamford Senior and Junior Legion teams.
