On the Wednesday, July 20, episode of Nutmeg Sports on the HAN Network Frank Granito is joined by New Canaan Sports Editor Dave Stewart to preview the new renovations at Dunning Stadium and much more in the Nutmeg State.
Dave shares pictures from the process of the turf being ripped up at Dunning Stadium, how it gets packaged, and what is next for the hollowed ground that was home to 7 state champion teams. Frank and Dave then look at the full plan for the renovations to Dunning Stadium and Hawes Plaza as well as the installment of new turf fields on the grass behind New Canaan’s tennis courts.
Next Frank and Dave dive into both Marinelli camps as they break down the recent success in 7 on 7 tournaments for the Greenwich Cardinals and dissect the quarterback debate at New Canaan. Dave offers his opinion on what he saw from seniors James Crovatto, Spencer Williams, and freshman Drew Pyne and who he thinks will have the best chance at playing come the fall for the Rams.
Finally the guys check up on the remaining baseball teams from Connecticut in Sectional and Regional tournaments.
Stamford American won their opening game in Sectionals 5-3 vs Milford National. Stamford will play against Fairfield American on Thursday night.
Frank and Dave check in on 4 other baseball teams and congratulate Sacred Heart alumni Bill Bayno on his new position as an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers.
