On the Wednesday, June 6, episode of Nutmeg Sports Frank and Kevin breakdown the class girls lacrosse semifinals and girls golf state championship from Tuesday afternoon.
First up, Frank and Kevin welcome Ridgefield Athletic Director Dane Street to talk about the success of the boys and girls lacrosse teams during the 2018 spring season. The girls defeated No. 2 Cheshire 14-13 in overtime on Tuesday night to advance to their first ever state final. The boys will play No. 7 Glastonbury tonight in the Class L semifinals.
Next Dave Stewart joins the show to talk about New Canaan’s 12-11 upset over No. 1 Darien. It was the Blue Wave’s first loss vs a Class L opponent in 107 games. The Rams will play in the Class L championship for the first time in program history when they take on Ridgefield on Saturday.
Dave also talks about the thrilling match from the golf course yesterday when the Rams took home their second straight girls state title. New Canaan and Fairfield Warde shot a tournament record 327 in regulation forcing a playoff between the two squads. The Rams edged Warde 54-55 as the two schools finished first and second in this year’s tournament.
