On the Thursday, March 15, episode of Nutmeg Sports, our hosts are back in studio and breaking down the Division 1 boys ice hockey semifinals from Wednesday night.
Frank Granito, Kevin Coleman, and John Kovach are all in studio and starting things off with semifinal No. 1 between Greenwich and Xavier. The No. 3 Falcons took a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd period before Matt Baugher cut the lead in half and ignited the Cardinals comeback. Alex Mozian scored the equalizer with 1:19 remaining in regulation and Matt Davey scored the game winner 80 seconds into overtime.
Next up is semifinal No. 2 as the Ridgefield Tigers and Fairfield Prep Jesuits met for the third time this season. Despite a tremendous effort from the 5th seeded Tigers, the result remained the same as No. 1 Prep advanced to Saturday’s championship game with a 4-1 victory.
The gang will get you ready for tonight’s Division 3 semifinals, including No. 1 Staples’ game vs No. 5 Eastern Connecticut. Plus a look at some impressive individual performances at the Connecticut swimming state championships.
