It's playoff time! Frank, Kevin and Eric have opening round highlights from the FCIAC spring tournaments along with Athlete of the Week winners and nominees.

Nutmeg Sports, HAN’s Connecticut sport show, airs Monday-Thursday at 2 pm on HAN.Network, hosted by Frank Granito, Kevin Coleman, Eric Gendron and various HAN sports editors.

On the Monday, May 22, episode of Nutmeg Sports our hosts announce the HAN Network’s Week 5 Spring Athlete of the Week winners, and the Week 6 nominees. Plus the spring postseason is officially underway and the HAN Network has you covered with highlights and analysis of the girls and boys lacrosse tournaments, and the Road to Harbor Yard as well.

First up is Athlete of the Week, brought to you by Danbury Orthopedics, the week 5 winners were Patrick Metzger of New Canaan baseball and Katie Shouvlin of Wilton softball. Frank and Kevin also announce the week 6 nominees for the spring season, which includes performances from the final week of the regular season and week 1 of the playoffs.

Next up our hosts have highlights and full analysis of the FCIAC quarterfinals in boys lacrosse and baseball. The HAN Network was live to see No. 6 Darien take down No. 3 Staples 4-3 Friday afternoon from Staples field. Henry Williams and Peter Marren held serve on the mound for the Blue Wave and Casey Brown’s big two run homer proved to be the difference for the defending conference champions.

From New Canaan’s Dunning Field on Saturday afternoon the No. 5 Wilton Warriors took down No. 4 New Canaan for the first time in 10 tries to advance to the semifinals where No. 1 Darien awaits. The other semifinals pits No. 2 Greenwich against No. 3 Ridgefield.

Finally, Frank, Kevin and Eric breakdown the girls lacrosse quarterfinals and preview the HAN Network’s coverage of the semifinals on Monday afternoon from Norwalk’s Testa Field. The first semifinal will be No. 6 Ridgefield vs No. 2 New Canaan, followed by No. 5 Staples and No. 1 Darien.
