During the HAN Cruiser’s stop at Fairfield Warde High School to meet the winter sports captains and coaches we saw how many athletes and HAN staff we can fit in the HAN Network tent: eight. And we did it twice.
We talked with many Fairfield Warde about their hopes and expectations for the 2015-16 winter sports season on Thursday, Dec. 10. It was the 11th stop on the HAN Network’s winter FCIAC Tour.
We’ve traveled to all 17 league schools in December to interview the winter captains and coaches before we start our second full season of live high school sports broadcasts in southwestern Connecticut.
The tour started on Monday afternoon, Dec. 7, at Darien High School and concluded on Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Greenwich — the 17th school on the tour. You can check out the other interviews at this page or on our YouTube Channel. We’ll be posting all the interviews — about 150 — this week.
There are nearly 30 games on HAN’s winter schedule that include eight sports: Boys and girls ice hockey, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, boys swimming and indoor track. You can check out the winter schedule at this link. (Note: It is subject to change as the season progresses.)
The initial HAN winter schedule features the Warde girls basketball team against Danbury on Friday, Jan. 29. We also will see the Fairfield co-op boys ice hockey game at Darien on Monday, Feb. 1; and also we will have both the boys and girls basketball games against cross-town rival Fairfield Ludlowe on Thursday, Feb. 11. More games could be added during the season and HAN has exclusive broadcasting rights for all league postseason contests including the cheerleading championships.
Rob Adams, HAN Network’s sports director; Bill Bloxsom, the Trumbull Times sports editor; and John Kovach, the HAN editorial director, conducted the interviews of the St. Joseph athletes and coaches who joined us on Thursday, Dec. 9. You can watch all the interviews below:
