How they got here

Ridgefield has kept the postseason exciting for Tigers fans. No. 3 Ridgefield (16-6, 13-5 FCIAC) edged No. 6 Fairfield Warde with a buzzer beater in the quarterfinals on Saturday. After a three-pointer at the buzzer in the semifinals, the Tigers beat rival No. 7 Danbury in double-overtime on Tuesday get to the championship.

Wilton (17-5, 13-5), Ridgefield’s other big rival, finished the regular season with the same FCIAC record as the Tigers. The Tigers, however, won in their only meeting this season, 69-59, on Feb. 2. Wilton staged a big comeback against No. 4 Trinity on Saturday to get to the semifinals. In the semifinals, the Warriors kept No. Trumbull under control long enough on Tuesday for another upset and a chance to win the school’s first boys basketball title.

During the semifinals, Fairfield Warde High School was so packed with Wilton and Ridgefield fans that the FCIAC opted to move it to Fairfield University’s Alumni Hall, which holds 2,800 people — about 1,000 more than Fairfield Warde’s gymnasium.
