Darien traveled to Greenwich for the Cardinals’ football home opener Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26, for the HAN Network FCIAC Game of the Week.
In case you missed it — or want to relive it — here’s the complete HAN.Network broadcast of Saturday’s game (no spoiler alerts in this post). The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference game featured two 1-0 teams and a new coach facing a familiar foe.
Here’s Saturday’s complete game broadcast in HD:
New Canaan native John Marinelli and former Rams offensive coordinator (and, of course, son of New Canaan head coach Lou Marinelli) won his first game as Greenwich head coach in a thriller at Trinity Catholic last week. This was his first home game with the Cardinals. Marinelli joined HAN during its FCIAC Gameday pregame show to talk about his team and Darien.
Darien beat New Canaan for the FCIAC Championship in the Turkey Bowl last year but fell to Marinelli’s Rams in the state championship days later. The Blue Wave trounced Stamford at Boyle Stadium last week. This week, Darien was facing its first test of the young season.
The HAN Network pregame shows, FCIAC Tailgate and FCIAC Gameday, featured guests from Greenwich, the school, both team’s football head coaches (and others) and players from both sides. You can watch those shows, in a combined broadcasts, here:
