The historic rivalry returns as the No. 1 Darien Blue Wave will take on the No. 2 New Canaan Rams for the FCIAC boys lacrosse championship live on the HAN Network Friday, May 25, at 4 p.m. from Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk

The top-seeded Blue Wave defeated the No. 4 Wilton Warriors 17-5 in the semifinals on Wednesday. Logan McGovern led the way with five goals and two assists, Brian Minicus scored a hat trick and four assists, Hudson Pokorny and Henri Pfiefle both scored twice, Blake Sommi, Jackson Peters, Tommy Hellman, Tanner Strub, Matt Gould all had one goal, and Sean Collins finished with 11 saves.

The Blue Wave is currently riding a 72 game winning streak, has won four straight FCIAC titles and is gunning for the 17th title in school history.

The New Canaan Rams defeated the No. 3 Ridgefield Tigers 10-6 in the semifinals. The Rams showcased a balanced scoring attack as Quintin O’Connell and Owen Shine had two goals, Teddy Manges had a goal and an assist, Liam Griffiths, Will Rechterman, Nick Crovatto, Mac Deane, and Matt Cosco all found the back of the net, and Carl Mazabras had 10 saves.

New Canaan won the title in 2012 and 13, and lost the final to Darien, in 2016, 9-5.

The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but will instead start earlier.
