Two more boys basketball teams with postseason aspirations will be featured on the HAN Network when the Stamford Black Knights host the Norwalk Bears at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Watch the live video stream, with Rob Adams leading the call, starting at 6:50 p.m. on the HAN.Network frontpage, our affiliate websites, or in the video player below:
Norwalk (1-5 overall, 0-2 FCIAC) has struggled early this season but is still a threat to reach the FCIAC final for a second straight season, while Stamford (5-1, 2-0) has tipped off the season with five wins in its first six games.
Norwalk was the FCIAC runner-up last season and, after losing its first five games, broke through for a victory on Saturday when it defeated the Newtown Nighthawks, 79-65, in Newtown.
The Bears had struggled before that, although they made a great comeback bid during the second half of last Thursday’s game against unbeaten Danbury. That game, won by Danbury 65-51, was carried live on the HAN Network and can be viewed on demand here.
Leading the Bears are the 6-foot-3 A.J. Jerome and the 6-foot-5 Jakari Gainer, both senior forwards and co-captains.
Also taking on the role of senior co-captains are guards Zach White and Eddie O’Hara, who can be deadly from beyond the three-point arc.
The Stamford Black Knights have tipped off the season with a strong start and won their first two official league games last week, beating New Canaan 52-35, and Staples 40-37.
Last Tuesday, they rolled past New Canaan behind a strong performance from senior co-captain and three-year starter Jay DeVito, who scored a game-high 22 points. DeVito had 12 points in the win over Staples on Friday, and is an HAN-FCIAC Athlete of the Week nominee.
Stamford also features senior co-captain Steffan Harding, a 6-1 forward, and senior point guard Yan Carlos Marte.

Next up is girls basketball with Greenwich at Ridgefield on Friday, Jan. 15. Check out the complete broadcast schedule here.
The HAN Network, formerly known as Hersam Acorn Newspapers, is the exclusive FCIAC broadcast partner through the spring of 2018. HAN Network’s broadcasting division replaced HANRadio.com with a new focus on live video streams of high school athletics along with the Network’s news and lifestyle programming.
Along with Connecticut high school sports contests, HAN broadcasts a daily news program, Coffee Break, focusing on southwestern Connecticut at 11 a.m. and a sports talk show, Nutmeg Sports, Monday-Wednesday. You can watch all the shows at live.HAN.Network or on demand at live.HAN.Network/han-on-demand/.
