HAN-FCIAC Male Athlete of the Week Nominees

Mitchell Pryor, Darien football

The senior captain ran wild against St. Joseph in this weekend’s top 3 match up. Pyror ran for more than 100 yards in the contest, and added three touchdowns to lead the Blue Wave past the Cadets 42-10. Darien improved to 3-0 on the season and stretched their win streak to 28 games.

JT Siano, Ridgefield  boys soccer

Siano had two goals in the Tigers’ 3-0 shutout of Ludlowe on Tuesday, and then scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory over Greenwich on Friday. Siano’s goal versus Greenwich came in the 13th minute, and the Tigers held off the Cards the rest of the way. Ridgefield is 4-0 since Siano, a senior, returned from an injury.

Garrett Braden, New Canaan football

Braden had five tackles and three sacks to lead a great defensive effort as the Rams defeated the Trumbull Eagles, 61-14, on Friday at Dunning Field. Braden continued the great start to his junior campaign bringing his season sack total up to seven, and he also helped out on offense, rushing for a touchdown on his first carry of the season.

Terry Forester, Stamford football

The junior Forester keyed the Black Knights’ first win of the season throwing three touchdown passes, and running in another, in a 32-10 victory over city rival Trinity Catholic at Boyle. Forester’s touchdown passes covered 49, 27, and 70 yards.

Joshua Smith, Bridgeport Central boy soccer

Smith powered the Central offense in their 3-0 win over Staples. In a meeting between two of the FCIAC’s better teams, Smith scored twice for the Hilltoppers as Bridgeport Central continued their hot start to this season improving to 3-1-2 on the year.

HAN-FCIAC Female Athlete of the Week Nominees

Sydney Schrenker, Darien field hockey

Schrenker and the Blue Wave had a huge week outscoring their two opponents by a total of 18-0. Sydney picked up a hat trick in both victories, scoring three goals in the Blue Wave’s 9-0 rout of Trumbull and then added three more in the Wave’s 9-0 victory over Danbury.

Paige Finneran, Greenwich field hockey

The junior, Finneran, scored two goals to help lift the Cardinals over Fairfield Ludlowe, 4-2, and continue their undefeated start to the season. Greenwich sits in first place in the FCIAC with a record 5-0-0-0 heading into this week.

Chloe Ortolano, Brien McMahon girls soccer

Ortolano struck for a hat trick in pacing the Senators to a 6-0 win over Stamford. McMahon has won 3 of their past four games and the junior Ortolano has played a huge role in the Senators offensive production.
