Are wild trout spawning on the Deerfield River? The Yankee Fisherman finds out

When they wanted to know if wild trout were spawning in the Deerfield River in Massachusetts, members of the Deerfield River Watershed Chapter of Trout Unlimited took on the task themselves.

We’ll go out with them and learn what they found on Yankee Fisherman on the HAN Network, presented by The Dock Shop, Thursday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. at

Watch the show below:

The study was sparked by the license renewal process for a nearby dam, and could have implications with regard to management and care for the river moving forward.

We’ll have an update on proposed new regulations in Connecticut, including the possibility of a trout stamp and new Trout Management Areas, and look ahead at some events.

And congratulations to our presenting sponsor, The Dock Shop, on an honor it won from the Darien Chamber of Commerce.

Yankee Fisherman is hosted by John Kovach, editorial director, host and announcer for the HAN Network. A native of New Jersey, Kovach has fished since his father first took him out as a child. Kovach fishes fresh and salt water, ties flies, dabbles in lure making and promotes conservation, including a leadership role in the Connecticut Council of Trout Unlimited.
