The Trumbull High Eagles will host the Ridgefield Tigers in an FCIAC wrestling match on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m.

Trumbull, coached by Niko Filippakis, placed fifth Class LL a year ago.
The Eagles graduated champions Cross Cannone (132 pounds) and Stephen Briganti (160 pounds), along with second-place finisher Adam Angelucci (152 pounds).
Tristan Haviland (third at 106 pounds), Dante Montanaro (third at 126 pounds), Joey Ryan (fourth at 170 pounds) and Mike Mirmina (fifth at 120 pounds) are returning place-winners.

Ridgefield, coached by Travis Tiger, placed ninth in Class LL in 2015.
Tigers place-winners who graduated are Kevin Side (third at 138 pounds) and Tyler Hamilton (fifth at 160 pounds).
Leading Ridgefield this season is senior Colin Storm. Competing at 132 pounds, Storm finished third in the FCIAC, fifth in Class LL and third at the State Open last year, qualifying for the New England championships with his top-four finish at the Open.
Also back are fellow senior captains Dylan Chelednik and Kyle McCormick, both of whom placed (top six) at last season’s FCIAC championships. McCormick was fourth at 182 pounds and Chelednik was fifth at 145 pounds. McCormick will remain at 182 pounds this winter, with Chelednik bumping up to 152 pounds.

The HAN Network will be covering numerous events throughout the FCIAC’s winter season, including ice hockey, basketball, wrestling, swimming and diving, and the conference’s postseason championships.
Boys basketball makes its HAN Network debut on Thursday, Jan. 7, with Danbury vs. Norwalk boys basketball. We’ll have both ends of the St. Joseph-Trumbull boys and girls basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 9.
