Yankee Fisherman, Thursday, March 1

New gear, new places, new regulations

New gear, new places and new regulations are keeping us busy on Yankee Fisherman, live Thursday at 1 p.m. at HAN.Network.

Watch the show below:

Kathleen Burns of the Connecticut Marine Trades Association takes a look back at the 49th annual Hartford Boat Show, and has big news about next year’s golden anniversary of the expo.

Kenny Flannery of Freestyle Travel Gear has developed a lightweight backpack/tent combination that could change the next wilderness fishing adventure. (You may be able to carry more tackle.)

Connecticut has approved new fishing regulations, including a trout and salmon stamp, trophy carp waters and an expansion of the Wild Trout Management Area on the Mill River in Easton and Fairfield. We’ll run down those new rules with info from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Yankee Fisherman is hosted by John Kovach, editorial director, host and announcer for the HAN Network. A native of New Jersey, Kovach has fished since his father first took him out as a child. Kovach fishes fresh and salt water, ties flies, dabbles in lure making and promotes conservation, including a leadership role in the Connecticut Council of Trout Unlimited.
