Yankee Fisherman, Thursday, March 8

Saltwater regulations, and a benefit for Owen

A benefit for a family who’s toddler is battling an illness and new rules on the Long Island Sound have the spotlight on this week’s Yankee Fisherman, live Thursday, March 8, at 1 p.m.

Fisherman spoke out Monday, March 5, about pending changes in saltwater regulations, and we’ll have highlights from the hearings. Most of the discussion centered around black sea bass, but there are also changes affecting scup, tautog and fluke.

Reel Fishing Northeast has a fundraiser for Owenstrong, helping Jay Hanecak and family as their son, Owen, battles leukemia, set for March 25 in Meriden. Dan Allegue and Joseph Apanowitch of Reel Fishing Northeast give us all the details of the benefit, which offers food, drinks and raffles from noon to 8 p.m.
